Malmö Table - Black Ottchil

Malmö Table is a dining table designed with decorative elements reduced to a minimum, allowing the natural flow of its form and the character of the material to stand out. Its proportions and details have been carefully refined throughout the design process. The tabletop is available in two sizes, 960 mm and 1060 mm, which can be selected as an option. The legs remain the same in both form and dimensions. The 960 mm size comfortably seats four people, while the 1060 mm version is suitable for various uses beyond dining, including as a work table. Crafted from premium-grade white oak, each piece is carefully selected for its beautiful grain and natural depth.

This black lacquer version was completed in collaboration with Park Gangyong, a master lacquer artisan designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage holder in Jeollabuk-do. The black lacquer finish, created using Ottchil (traditional Korean lacquer), is a traditional finishing technique frequently used in Korean furniture from the Joseon Dynasty. It is valued for its refined depth and the rich, soft sheen that develops beautifully over time, while also offering strong resistance to water and stains, making it a durable and practical finish suitable even for tableware.

말뫼테이블(Malmö Table)은 장식적인 요소를 최대한 덜어내고, 자연스러운 조형의 흐름과 재료의 물성이 돋보이도록 디자인한 다이닝 테이블입니다. 오랜 시간 함께할 수 있는 가구를 지향하며, 세심한 디테일과 만듦새를 통해 완성도를 높였습니다. 상판은 960mm와 1060mm 두 가지 크기로 준비되어 있어 옵션에서 선택하실 수 있습니다. (다리의 형태와 크기는 동일합니다.) 960mm는 4인이 여유롭게 둘러앉기 좋은 크기이며, 1060mm는 식사뿐만 아니라 작업 테이블 등 다양한 용도로 활용하기 좋습니다. 높은 등급의 화이트 오크를 사용하였으며, 결이 아름답고 깊이감이 느껴지는 부분만을 신중하게 선별했습니다. 이번 흑칠(검은색 옻칠) 버전은 전북특별자치도 무형유산 옻칠장 박강용 장인과의 협업으로 완성되었습니다. 흑칠은 조선시대 고가구에서 자주 사용되었던 우리나라의 전통 마감 방식입니다. 식기에 사용될 정도로 수분과 오염에 강해 실용성이 뛰어나며, 특유의 중후한 멋과 사용할수록 깊고 부드러워지는 광택이 매력적인 마감입니다.
